Welcome Back

Sorry about my absence readers! I got a little caught up in school, but now I’m back and ready to get back to business.

You can also follow me on my tumblr– http://sammysfavoritethings.tumblr.com/

I am fresh off of my internship in the fashion closet of Marie Claire–I will post photos soon after the issue I helped work on comes out, but it was the most amazing experience ever. Every day when I sit in class, I dream of designer shoes and magical accessories. I can’t wait to go back this summer.

August Birchbox

I came home from the beach with a birchbox in my mailbox! This is my third box, my least favorite so far but still good! Here is what I got: Image1. Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur–The uplifting scent opens with a sparkling cascade of mandarin and wild berries. Next, sweet notes of honeysuckle, gardenia petals, and jasmine peek through, followed by a lingering trace of waterlily

2. Pixi Beauty Lip & Line Primer–The two-in-one pencil has a moisturizing, nude balm to prime lips for pigments and a translucent lip liner to keep those punchy hues in place.

3. Miss Jessie’s Original Curly Meringue–This curl-loving cream does triple-duty, delivering lasting hold, lightweight hydration, and enviable shine. It’s made with a fortifying mix of natural plant oils—including avocado, coconut, sweet almond, and olive—plus frizz-reducing aloe extract.

4. Yu-Be Moisterizing Skin Creme–A dose of soothing camphor gives this light yellow cream its faint herbal scent, which fades quickly upon contact with your skin. High concentrations of glycerin and sodium hyaluronate seal in moisture and protect skin from the elements. Finally, vitamins B, C, and E infuse skin with antioxidants and boost firmness. The thick, creamy consistency makes this an ideal hand cream, foot cream, lip balm, and facial moisturizer—or you can use it to soften rough elbows and knees. You’ll be amazed by how quickly it absorbs into your skin without leaving a greasy feeling behind.

5.Schick 5 blade razer

I’m excited to try the curling potion on my curly hair to give it more definition, as well as take the razor up to school with me next week!

I keep all of my perfume samples in a cute mason jar in my room! The mix of colors and chic logos are really pretty together and is easy decor and is a good mason jar project!

Antique Andventures

So in a recent post I shared how I had recently purchased a vintage bar cart and vanity at a little antique store in Eastern Market. Well yesterday during my lunch break, HS and I rode over and picked up the bar cart as well as two other items that I found. We had put the items on lay away. I wish items at the mall could be put on lay away, but oh the trouble I would get myself in to.

I also got a great little wood chair to put with my vanity. It came pink, since it was only 14 DOLLARS, I am still in shock I am going to make that my practice piece to try painting. I also picked up a fur coat from the 50’s which was purchased at Hudson’s. I literally fell in love with it. I will put pictures of those items as soon as the jacket gets back from the dry cleaners! And I will do a DIY on the chair!

Anyways I snapped some photos of the bar cart and vanity, my apologies I took them with my iphone in the dark antique store.

Cake Pop How To

This past year I have been baking non stop! I am finding new recipes every day and trying new things. One thing that I always come back to are my cake pop recipe which my cousin Julie gave to me! It is for sure a crowd pleaser. One of the great things about them are that they can be made for any occasion or theme.

Making these little suckers is so much fun! I included the recipe so you can make them too! enjoy, xx!

One box of cake mix (flavor of your choice)

One can of frosting (I used cream cheese flavored)

Dipping Chocolate (grocery store or any candy making store)

3 eggs

Applesauce (used instead of the vegetable oil, to make more moist)

Sucker sticks

Wax paper

Spray 9×13 pan with Pam spray.

Mix cake ingredients in a separate bowl, and pour mixed batter into pan.

Follow cake cooking instructions on back of box.

After cake has been baked, let it completely cool.

After cake has completely cooled, mush cake so that it crumbles into little pieces.

Take half of the can of frosting and dump into cake, mix with hands or in a food processer so that the frosting and cake or one consistency.

Roll cake and frosting mixture into tiny ball shapes and put them in the freezer for 15 minutes.

Heat up chocolate at 30 second intervals in a microwave safe bowl, removing from microwave every time and mixing. (Be careful not to over melt, it will burn!)

Take frozen cake balls out of freezer, dip the sucker stick into the melted chocolate and then stick into the frozen cake ball.

Then dip the frozen pop into the chocolate, submersing it in all of the way so that it is completely covered.

Tap it on the bowl to get any access off, and then set it on wax paper to dry.

Pink and Yellow

So as some of you may know, I am moving into my first house next week. I have gone totally interior design diva on this. All of the sudden I am totally into picking out the perfect furniture pieces and fun throw pillows! CPAmom is on her 100th anxiety/panic attack about me leaving and has already given me the “I am not made out of money” talk. (Sorry Mom)

Anyways, I am really into vintage/antique shopping right now. I really enjoy finding old pieces and mixing and matching them to create a really cool look. I have been finding new antique shops around the Metro Detroit area and going to find just the right pieces.

The first place kind of fell into my lap. CPAmom and HS and I were out at The Eastern Farmers Market downtown and came across this hole in the wall antique store, somewhat hidden. CPAmom encouraged me to adventure in. This place was like a gold mine!

I found a fabulous bar cart, which I have longing for, for a while as well as a beautiful 1960’s vanity, and a demi-lune table pictured below.

ImageAll of these things are going to look great together. I am taking these pieces as well as a bedroom set that my family purchased years ago for a guest bedroom that we don’t use anymore!

I have actually been wanting a bar cart for a while after seeing Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere blog about hers. I plan on using it for when I entertain, yes I plan on entertaining in college. Totally chic, right?

I also got a new comforter from Anthropologie, (25% off now too!) which I adore. It is white with flowers and ruffles. It is made of the most yummiest and softest t-shirt like material I have ever felt.

I am getting white sheets and having them tie-dyed a pastel pink and yellow to match my color scheme. As well as getting this cute little yellow couch with a little white coffee table.

Seattle Trip

A few weeks ago CPAmom and I went on a trip to Seattle, the home of Starbucks coffee and Nordstrom. It sounds like this place was made for us! Here are some photos, enjoy!

Famous For Trying On Shoes

Writing a blog post every day is harder than I thought it would be! With work everyday and other various things it is very difficult to squeeze in a post here and there.

And with my most recent trip to Seattle (pictures to come tomorrow) I have been a bit behind! But here is a picture I wanted to share of myself and another intern Brittany at an event a few weeks ago, we made it into the Detroit News for trying on shoes…my mom was so proud!

Wedding Weekend

This past weekend my cousin Julie got married! It was a great event, and I got a new dress and BEYOND beautiful shoes for it! I wore a black Herve Leger bandage dress complete with gorg Miu Miu heels and CPAmom wore a Halston Heritage dress. Here are some pictures, enjoy! xxImage

Last night was my best friend Alex’s 21st birthday! We have been friends since kindergarten and still go to school together. Last night my friend Morgan and I left right from work and drove up to our stomping ground to celebrate! Here are some fun photos! I loved going with a simple/neutral outfit and adding a sparkly jcrew clutch and bright essie nail color! xx
